About us
We buy handwoven sarees directly from weaving families and sell them without a showroom markup.
Why we started
A handloom saree passes through four or five hands before it reaches a showroom, and each of them takes a margin. The weaver takes the smallest. We started because that ordering seemed wrong.
How we buy
We buy directly from weaving families in Kanchipuram, Varanasi, Chanderi, Maheshwar and Phulia. We pay before the saree ships, not after it sells, because a weaving household cannot carry credit.
What you should expect
Handloom is not machine-made. Colours vary slightly between pieces, a border may sit a millimetre off, and the reverse of a brocade will show its working. These are the marks of a hand process. If a piece has a genuine defect we will say so on the listing and price it accordingly.
